The Mill Pond Trail is a short 1 block walk down Fifth Avenue heading west. This trail offers a 0.88 mile walk around Austin's Mill Pond that crosses by the Austin Public Library, Austin's Municipal Pool and Park, and the Hormel Plant.

The City of Austin's 26,800 square feet Library opened in September 1996. It is situated so that it overlooks the historic Mill Pond and is adjacent to Horace Austin Park and the Mill Pond Trail. The library's circulation is over 90,000 volumes which include a wide variety of newspapers, magazines, CD's, and DVD's. The library also features public use of its computers, audio-visual equipment, and is a Free Wi-Fi Hotspot.

Located in the renovated and Historic Milwaukee Road Train Depot, this is where all the residents of Austin, MN go to either renew their driver's license or apply for one. The building still has the old historical "Milwaukee Road" lettered sign above its main entrance. The lobby features a glass display case with Milwaukee Road memorabilia.

The Historic Paramount Theater was built in 1929 as a first run movie house, it is a unique atmospheric theatre with a Spanish motif. Restoration of the Paramount began in 1989. Today, The Austin Area Commission for the Arts presents a full season of performing arts and makes the theater available to the community and artists for private rental.

The downtown district boasts the historic Paramount Theater, neighborhood eateries and bars, and many shopping stores that are renovated to look like they did when the structures were originally built, and all of this is within walking distance to Lincoln Apartments.

When you want to hit the ice, Riverside Arena is only 3 blocks away! Riverside Arena is home to the Austin Bruins which is a junior division hockey team in the North American Hockey League. Attendance is always very high and so is the excitement and enthusiasm for the team. If you are looking to do a little ice skating of your own, you can use the open ice-skating time periods to do so.
